Moral Watershed
The stories about teacher sexual relationships with their students, is now becoming a common event. In Florida, we are seeing more and more female teachers involved in this activity. The females tend to get off with lesser charges than the male teachers. One was designated as “too pretty” to go to jail. She ended up in jail but for only a fraction of the time the males generally are sentenced. Deviant sexual behavior has always been a part of human nature. It gets much more coverage these days with the 24 hour cable news networks, news talk radio stations and the evil internet. But it is much more prevalent today than from years back. In fact, the hideous crimes that are reported now are more frequent than they have been in the past. They are also more violent and sex is part of the act from simple battery to murder.
Is the reporting of these crimes bringing people who may have a tendency to want to commit these crimes, to the brink of acting on their thoughts? Are the visuals of websites that place emphasis on deviant sexual behavior causing people with these tendencies to act on those thoughts? Where is the moral outrage from leaders in government on what is going on in America with these type crimes? Is it because politicians know that some in their parties are participating in these acts as we have seen in recent years? Are they protecting their fellow colleagues instead of doing the duty of protecting Americans with tough laws and policing of businesses including internet sites that participate in promoting deviant sexual behavior that leads to horrific crimes? Maybe.
The Florida House Of Representatives is trying to pass a law banning teen modeling websites. The reason….these sites have children posing in provocative positions with little clothing on. Sick. Maybe this is a start. We will see. In China, the communist government has banned YouTube because it has offensive content that they believe harms the country. They also have blocked some television stories to prevent stories that are “harming” the people. In addition, the Chinese government implemented some virtual cops to patrol the portals and warn users every time they try to access prohibited content. Now, I am all for free speech and believe it is the essence of our ability to communicate differing opinions to get a consensus on many issues. But, is it a bad idea for the government to police the internet and block website content that harms the moral fiber of America? If the government is in business to protect Americans, is this an act of protecting Americans? Good question, no good answer. We are in a time where the government is growing rapidly and is influencing our lives more and more. That’s not good. If they got into the morality business, because it is government, they would go too far and we would be deprived of freedoms that currently enjoy.
Shut down the internet? No, but maybe there is a solution in the private sector that can prevent potential sexual predators and deviants of all kinds from getting ideas that bring them to the brink of acting on their criminal appetites. Talk radio is doing its part to expose this problem; hopefully, other leadership will come to the forefront and help to expose internet sites that promote criminal sexual activity.
